New Build versus Resale
Wednesday 19th May 2010
For Estate Agents in East London the age old question asked by buyers is - new build or resales? The answer should never come from the Estate Agent themselves as it depends entirely on what a buyer wants from a property.
Resales tend to be in more established areas with better facilities. Properties in South East London conservation areas like Greenwich or Blackheath are often more aesthetically pleasing than the newer red bricks buildings. However, they are more likely to need repairs and any value you want to add to the property is subject to rigorous planning permission.
New Builds tend to be showroom new, therefore you can make your mark from the word go. They come with all mod cons and building work is usually guaranteed for the first few years. They can however, look generic – especially if a number have been built in the same area. Room sizes in new builds are generally smaller and as it has just been built, there is little value you can add to it.
